No. The sessions introduce the rules and materials as you go. You do not need to be a gamer, know a particular system, or own dice before training; you'll receive a participant kit with everything you need.

No. Some participants may want to bring role-playing into their clinical work. Others may simply want a more experiential way to deepen their understanding of ACT. The program is designed to offer value to both groups.

The planned training is for mental-health clinicians interested in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, experiential learning, or carefully facilitated therapeutic tabletop role-playing. You do not need to use ACT as your primary orientation, be familiar with ACT, or have previous gaming experience.

Sessions combine ACT-oriented discussion, collaborative adventure, and structured reflection. You'll make choices, respond to uncertainty, and consider what you noticed in relation to psychological flexibility. The game is a learning context, not a performance or a test of your skills.

Not at all! The ACT Experience introduces the core processes of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy through shared adventure, guided reflection, and discussion. If you're new to ACT, it's an opportunity to learn about psychological flexibility by experiencing the processes firsthand. If you're already familiar with ACT, it's an opportunity to practice what you know and perhaps gain a fresh perspective by experiencing the processes from the participant's point of view.

That is a reasonable concern. The program introduces participants gradually to the format and establishes safety preferences before play. The goal is to be curious about your experience, not to deliver an impressive performance or reveal more personal information than you choose.

Six weekly live online sessions of 90 minutes each, for a total of nine live training hours. Cohorts are intentionally small. Exact dates and enrollment details for each cohort will be announced before registration opens.

No. The ACT Experience is professional experiential education. Although reflection may be personally meaningful, the program is not individual or group psychotherapy, and it is not a substitute for treatment.

Heroes Quest Academy plans to provide a certificate documenting nine hours of live training and participation. The program is not currently pre-approved by NBCC, NASW, or another national CE approval organization. Whether any hours are acceptable toward license renewal depends on your board and jurisdiction. If CE credit is important to you, verify the requirements before enrolling.

The kit includes the printed Participant Guide and Workbook, a Dungeon Crawl Classics dice set, a dice map, character sheets, an Academy pencil, and other materials used during the experience. Participants keep their materials.

The ACT Experience provides firsthand exposure to the format and design principles behind the Heroes Quest approach. It is not a certification of clinical competence to deliver therapeutic role-playing groups. Facilitator guidance and implementation resources are being developed separately; clinicians remain responsible for working within their scope of competence and providing appropriate preparation, consent, and safeguards.

Enrollment dates and final tuition have not yet been announced. You can join the Academy list, indicate your level of interest, and share optional availability preferences. Submitting the form does not commit you to enroll.
